I read this series back when they were separate books, but I bought this again because it was so good I wanted to give it another read.Without giving too much away, I just want to give potential readers some assurances...There's always a happy ending worth hanging in there for, even if the author puts their characters through a lot. Some passages can be occasionally hard to read because you're just so attached to the characters, but that just makes those happy endings that much more rewarding.There were a number of cliffhangers in the original books, but fortunately, no more! It's all the books, all in one, which makes this an incredibly easy recommendation now. Great price, too, for all that you get!Some scenes are also deliciously raunchy. I'm a self-professed furry and teratophile, so nothing in here phased me, but be warned, there are some pretty explicit scenes. Nothing anyone used to the surprisingly prolific genre of gay alien romance novels here on Amazon should be surprised by, though.In fact, compared to other novels in this genre, the author(s) do an excellent job of making affirmative consent and free will more prevalent here. Even if there is an aspect of, for lack of a better way to put it, "fated bondedness", it's demonstrated time and again how much choice each prospective partner has, even if they always do wind up in the arms of their 'knight in shining armor' in the end. They all display their own strength, too, in their own ways, in ways that help balance out the rest of the group and augment each other strengths' and weaknesses. It's impressive, actually, just how fiercely consent-oriented the main race of aliens are, in every aspect of their society, and the authors do a great job of extolling their virtues, over other races who might consider themselves more economically or technologically superior, but with more backwards social structures.An incredible series, and even if you're not really a fan of the 'mpreg' aspect, it's definitely worthwhile. It's actually really beautiful and rewarding to the reader, and seeing all the adorable little kiddos grow up is a neat feature of such a long series. Besides, there are only male characters involved in the romances, which is perfectly peachy for my gay-as-heck self. There's also some really wholesome scenes in a few of the books that should appeal to those who value family, and there are others who value independence from more toxic family relationships. It's a really neat juxtaposition.One thing I really appreciated in how creative a choice it was, there are NO humans at all, ZERO, throughout the entire series, and I'm so grateful for that, it's just... So cool and every character is just incredibly imaginative.This series will leave you buzzing with that pleasant "romance" feel, you'll go about your day thinking, aww, they make such a cute couple. I finished the whole series in a week, and that was far too short for my taste! It was my fault, though... No wait. It's the authors' fault! For making it too good. You know. Blame all around, I guess...Anyway, give it a chance, you won't regret it! So, sometimes giant series level off after a few books or seem repetitive, but this one is actually good.An actual journey, the entire series tells a cohesive tale that ends in a way that makes sense AND left me happy.And there's definitely no lack of creativity within each story, from space pirates, to ice princes, to ore-mining zombies. The diverse species, personalities, and settings are all fun to learn about, I only wish there was a visual representation of some of the stranger species to feed my curiosity. Until then, Rok will be a hammerhead shark for me.
